What are lash extensions?

We get this question so often!

Lash extensions are a technique used by professionals to enhance the curl, thickness and length of your natural lashes. Depending on the style of lash extension you get (more on that in our blog), 1 or more lashes will be bonded to a single natural lash to create a seamless look. We offer classic, hybrid, volume, mega volume and wet lash set.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Honestly, not that much. All we ask is for you to show up to your appointment with no eye makeup and to be on time. Not having makeup will reduce the amount of time needed to wash your lashes…meaning more lashing time!

How often should I come back for refills?

Everyone’s lashes grow at different speeds, but we highly recommend coming in for a refill every 2-3 weeks. This appointment would include the removal of any grown out lash extensions and replacing then with a new extension

Waiting longer than that may cause damage to your natural lashes (lashes growing out too much and getting heavy-traction alopecia) and more lashes will have grown out by then. If too many lashes need to be removed and replaced, it would be considered a new set instead of a fill.

Are lash extensions for me?

OF COURSE! Anyone with eyelashes can benefit from lash extensions. They don’t always have to be super full and glamourous. Natural, “I was born with this” style is actually very popular. Lash extensions can help you cut down time on your morning routine, you’ll wake up ready to take on the world!

Can I wear makeup?

Yes and no.

You can wear face and eye makeup, but not mascara! I would also say no to eyeliner as well, as it is very difficult to remove. If do feel like you must wear eyeliner, then I would highly recommend using a dark coloured eyeshadow and a liner brush. Please do not use oil based makeup remover and avoid anything with cotton fibres in it. This can get caught in your extensions. Check out our blog post on lash aftercare for more information

How long do lash extensions last?

Short answer: Maybe 2-4 weeks but it depends.

As mentioned above, everyone’s lashes grow at different rates so it’s hard to say on average how long extensions will last. Without a refill, they can last upwards of 5 weeks. HOWEVER, by then majority of your lashes will have naturally fallen off or grown out a lot. Meaning it could possibly cause damage to your natural lashes if the extensions aren’t maintained. If you plan on getting extensions as a one time thing for a special event, we highly recommend you come back and book a removal with a professional. This will make sure your lashes stay healthy and prevent you from picking and puling at it once it grows out.

Will lash extensions ruin my natural lashes?

Again, it depends.

Now don’t get scared! We know lots of people are afraid of getting lash extensions because they’re afraid of ruining their natural lashes. You can prevent this by doing the following:

1) Find a certified lash technician who knows what they’re doing! There are so many people out there looking for a shortcut at making money and this comes at the expense of the clients. As a potential lash extension client, you MUST do your research!

2) Please follow after-care instructions. After your appointment, your lash technician should always remind you of what the proper lash care instructions are. Follow proper lash care and hygiene will prevent bacteria from building up at the base of your lashes.

TLDR;

If you find a certified technician, follow after care instructions and get a refill every 2-3 weeks as recommended, your lashes will not suffer.
