Taking care of your lash extensions

Are you tired of having to wake up early to get ready for the day? Tired of chunky mascara and ending up with raccoon eyes mid-day? Who has the energy to carefully remove your makeup at the end of the day when all you want to do is lay down and pass out in bed.

Eyelash extensions might be the perfect solution for you. Wake up ready to take on the world, so convenient! That’s why it is critical to take care of your lash extensions in order to have them last longer.

What exactly are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are thin fibres attached onto your natural lash. These man-made fibres (we don’t use mink as they don’t hold the curl  and have a higher chance of an allergic reaction) add length and fullness around the eyes. The type of fibre can vary depending on the style of lashes you want, where you go, and your lash artist. Each set of extensions is customized and personalized for each client. We’re all about enhancing everyone’s natural beauty.

Lash Aftercare

As convenient as lash extensions make our lives, regular maintenance will ensure your natural lashes stay strong and healthy.

Your lash technician is responsible for letting you know how to take care of your lash extensions. Here are some tips:

Wash your lashes everyday! This is probably the most important but overlooked tip. You’ll want to invest in a lash cleanser and a small fluffy brush to thoroughly clean your lashes. Don’t be afraid to get them wet! Just pat dry/air dry and use a clean mascara spoolie to carefully brush out your extensions. This will remove any buildup like oil, dirt, dust, etc. Remember, the cleaner and healthier your lashes, the longer your extensions will last.

Avoid rubbing/touching your eyes with your fingers and picking at your lashes. Doing this can actually damage your natural lashes making it harder for your lash tech to help you achieve your desired look in your future appointments.

No mascara! It is almost impossible to remove 100% of the mascara from your extensions by yourself, and even if you come in for a deep lash cleanse, there is no guarantee that we can get everything out. All that makeup will eventually build up and risk a bacterial infection around the eyes. So please…no mascara, you don’t need it anyway! You have such a beautiful set of lash extensions already. If you wear other eye makeup, avoid cotton pads/balls/q-tips at all cost! The cotton fibres can and will get caught in your extensions and may rip out your natural lashes if you try to pull them out. Use lint free pads and swabs to carefully remove any eye makeup.

Book your refills every 2-3 weeks. Lash extensions can last upwards of 5 weeks but that doesn’t mean you get a refill every 5 weeks! We recommend a refill every 2-3 weeks because the extensions are attached to your natural lash. Meaning that they will grow out and need to be removed and replaced with a new extension. If you wait too long for a fill and too many extensions have already grown out or fallen off, you may be charged a full set. Try booking your refill appointments ahead of time to avoid disappointment. If you don't want a refill, it's best to book a removal appointment to avoid damage from pulling them out yourself.
